Disodium hydrogen phosphate is easily weathered in the air. When it is placed in the air at normal temperature, it loses about 5 water of crystallization and forms heptahydrate. When it is heated to 100 ºC, it loses all water of crystallization and becomes anhydrous. When it is heated to 250 ºC, it decomposes into sodium pyrophosphate. It is easy to be weathered in the air and can easily lose five molecules of water of crystallization to form heptahydrate.
Soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol. The aqueous solution exhibits a slightly alkaline reaction (the pH of 0.1-1N solution is approximately 9.0). It loses water of crystallization at 100 ºC and becomes anhydrous, and decomposes into sodium pyrophosphate at 250 ºC. The pH value of 1% aqueous solution is between 8.8 and 9.2; Insoluble in alcohol. Melt and lose 5 water of crystallization at 35.1 ºC.
